BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - A former West Virginia State Police Senior Trooper has resigned from his position before the conclusion of an investigation into his alleged connections to child pornography.

West Virginia State Police were informed via a Cybertip from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit that child pornography had been uploaded by one of their uniformed members, Senior Trooper R. A. Evick.

The State Police said Evick was immeditaely placed on administrative leave while Criminal and Internal investigations began.

However, before the investigation was concluded, Trooper Evick resigned from his position with the State Police.

Police said the results of the investigation would have resulted in his termination from the State Police, but did not specify what the results were.

The results of the Criminal investigation will be provided to the Cabell County Prosecuting Attorney, police say.
